Neat ways to use your Rubba Scrubba - Around the House
I saw an email about the Rubba Scrubbas today. It has so many great uses, and I wanted to share one more that I discovered.
I have a re-usable furnace filter in my home. I have always hated it because it is impossible to clean all the dirt off of it. I have tried almost everything. I have vacuumed it, dusted it, washed it in the shower, and hosed it off in the yard just to name a few. NOTHING I tried worked to get it clean. So I always cleaned it the best I could and put it back. I never felt really safe, because the filter is always dirty. I couldn't get the dirt off without scrubbing hard and if you scrub too hard the filter screen bends out of shape.
Then I tried the Rubba Scrubba. It is amazing. The rubber fingers are flexible enough that you can scrub hard without bending the filter screen. And it got all the dirt off. I let the dirt fall on the floor and I had piles of it when I was done that I just had to vacuum up. It hasn't been this clean since it was new! The Rubba Scrubba is one of the best working tools in the Fly Shop. Thank you so much for finding this great tool for all your Flybabies.

On a whim after cleaning my dryer lint trap the usual way by running my fingers over it I noticed the Rubba Scrubba on the laundry sink and decided to see what would happen if I ran it over the lint trap. Wow! I got a wad of lint twice the size of what I had just removed. Now I always use the Rubba Scrubba and am still amazed at how much lint it removes.

I have a confession to make. I purchased a couple of Rubba Scrubbas last month - thinking what a great way to clean the stairs and "brush" the pets. Well...I have been doing laundry usually more than a load a day - and my dryer was dripping water. We just had a repair man here in December - and I figured maybe he looked at the vent. We have lived here for 9 1/2 years - and never has the vent been cleaned. I disassembled the vent and cleaned it out with the Rubba Scrubba - my dh disassembled the vents that I couldn't reach - we have 14 feet of venting. He duct taped the Rubba Scrubba to a stick and cleaned out three foot sections at a time. Worked great!!!
Of course, I am kicking myself for not ordering the dryer cleaning kit - but the Rubba Scrubba worked fabulously.

I love discovering new uses for my Rubba Scrubba... The latest and greatest use is on my lampshades. For some reason dust on the lampshades never wants to wipe off or vacuum off, but the Rubba Scrubba easily removed the stuck on dust.
I can't wait to see the other creative uses for the Rubba Scrubba because I have discovered that Flybabies are some of the most creative people on the planet!

Clean your coffee pot like it has never been cleaned before add 1 teaspoon of salt to about 1 cup of warm water and use the Rubba Scrubba it gets under the rim and takes all the lime and residue off looks like new!
I love it and use it on all different areas when it is dirty I throw it in the dishwasher with a load of dishes and kill two birds with one stone Don't worry it is sterilized when it comes out.
I am not good at cleaning my bag less vacuum filter on a regular basis like I should (i.e. washing it with soap and water.) I do, however, take it out and beat it against a tree or the side of the house to get most of the dirt out. It was particularly clogged the other day and I was trying to think of what could get down into all of the folds. I had recently received my Rubba Scrubba and thought I would give it a try. The pointy bristles got down in the folds of the filter and got out most of the thick dust. The next time I do wash it with soap and water I will be scrubbing it with the Rubba Scrubba.

Well, here's my Rubba Scrubba story. I had to use a shovel and a trowel to dig a hole in my yard to plant a lavender bush. Afterwards I knew I shouldn't just put them back in the garage with all that damp dirt stuck on them to dry hard. So, I remembered reading about the lady who cleaned mud off of her suede shoes with the Rubba Scrubba. It occurred to me that it might work on the shovels, too. Boy did it! Best thing for cleaning those garden tools. Afterwards I merely washed the Rubba Scrubba with some warm soapy water and it looked brand new and ready for it's next adventure.

I found that the Rubba Scrubba is a good tool for cleaning my dusty flyscreens. Because we live in the tropics, during the wet season, dust is no longer dust, but becomes this sticky, moist, clingy stuff which can be pretty hard to shift -- especially from flyscreens. BUT the Rubba Scrubba works a treat.

Hello: I just had to share another way I have used my Rubba Scrubba. In addition to the pets, baseboards, etc. I found mine was the perfect tool to clean the filter in my vacuum cleaner. It is made of a coarse type of material that didn't just rinse clean. A toothbrush would have been too rough, but the Rubba Scrubba was perfect. It cleaned all the lint and dirt very quickly.

I have found a couple of great uses for the Rubba Scrubba. First, it works wonders for cleaning cat hair out of pet beds. Before, I could never get it all out before washing their beds.
Second, I have a beautiful room size oriental rug in my living room, from my lovely aunt. The problem is, the fringe is constantly getting tangled, and short of banning family and friends from walking on the rug, I found myself crawling around on hands and knees trying to untangle the fringe (not as successfully as I would have liked, either.) Now with Rubba Scrubba I can quickly just brush it out, without worrying about pulling it out, and the fringe looks perfectly neat again!

Oh, boy! I have found another icky task that has been made less icky by my Rubba Scrubba! I keep an electric broom (you know, the smallish vacuum cleaners..) behind the door in my bathroom to sweep up hair when I do my swish and swipe and sweep. It's fast and it works great but every month or so I have to lift out this nasty filter and clean all the dust, hair and the wad of dirty lint that accumulates there. In the past I have tried my bare hands (ugh), paper towels, and other things that have been mostly ineffective, to clean off the filter before I put it back into the vacuum. Yesterday I removed the filter, grimacing at the task, and remembered my Rubba Scrubba! Wow!! The filter was clean in a minute and I didn't have to touch it or breathe any of the residue from trying to clean it off with a paper towel. I'm pretty sure this is going to work on my other vacuum filter and ALSO on my air filters! I'll bet I can get more life out of them if I Rubba Scrubba them occasionally!

I am so thankful for the Rubba Scrubba. I have been using it for cat hair and general cleaning and it worked really well. But then my daughter(14) wore my favorite suede moccasins out into the mud pit our recent rains made of our back yard to feed the dog. (My fault, I shouldn't have left them by the door.) I wondered how I would ever get the mud off to try to clean them with leather cleaner, when I spied the Rubba Scrubba by the sink. "Eh, it's worth a try," I thought. Worth a try? I'll say. I let them dry completely and then the Rubba Scrubba got ALL the mud off the suede and most of it off the rubber soles of the shoes. I used a damp rag to get the rest of that and my favorite shoes look GREAT again - no leather cleaner needed!

My Rubba Scrubba has just saved me a service call (plus) from my electrician!
In my bathroom I have a 3 IN 1 HEATER, FAN AND LIGHT that has not been working properly since the last time I replaced a heating globe around two years ago. At the time, I removed all the globes and cleaned them all, but the inside of the unit was very yucky with a build up of dust that did not want to come off easily. I tried, but gave up. Two of the globes made fizzing noises when I switched it on the first time, then they went off. I called my electrician, but for some reason we kept missing each other and he still has not been. I have only been using the globes on the other side, using one switch. As I live alone, this has not been a real hassle, but I did find last winter colder with only half my heater working.
Fast forward to last week, and with summer coming to a close (here in Australia) - the centre light globe stopped working and needed replacing. It seemed like a good time to rethink what to do. Friends were selling a new 3 in 1 heater unit that was surplus to their requirements, and had placed a free advertisement in our local paper for next week, but I could have it for a good price, so I said that I would take it. I had already bought the new centre globe, and decided to install that while I waited to get in touch with the electrician.
Enter the Rubba Scrubba. My ceilings are quite high and I need to bring in a taller ladder than my kitchen steps to replace globes, so I decided that while I had the ladder in the house I would remove the two globes that were not working and use the Rubba Scrubba to give the inside of the unit a good clean around where the globes fit, as well as up into the fitting where the globes screw in. It was just the right shape to reach in, especially with the extra needles around the end. And the dust was no match for this little wonder tool. Needless to say, I and the bathroom got a good covering of white dust in the process, BUT when I reinserted the globes and flicked the switch it is all working perfectly. I have cancelled the purchase of the new unit!
I have also used the Rubba Scrubba to clean the floor mats in my car, and my car has never looked so clean inside. I must admit that it has not really been a priority in the past, and the effort to carry the vacuum cleaner outside and to unroll the extension cord just to vacuum the car meant that it was only ever done rarely. And then, the vacuum has never done as good a job of cleaning those mats as the Rubba Scrubba did! Now that it so easy, my car will not be an embarrassment again. I can't wait for my Hey Tom Car Duster to arrive to complete the team.
My FlyLady Calendar, my dusters, my timer, and my water bottles are all a big part of my daily routines, and now the Rubba Scrubba is right up there with them.
