Testimonial: Saving a Marriage Priceless!

Dear Marla,

Well, I just bought your calendar a couple weeks ago, and, I have to confess, I used to be one of those people who thought I didn't need your calendar.

For many years, I have made good use of appointment books and online calendars to keep track of my activities and appointments- this saw me through college, several jobs, my first marriage, and the beginning of my second marriage. My current husband and I were living in a place we'd been for a long time, we were both working, and our daily activities and routines were so familiar to each other that, even without sharing a calendar, we knew what was going on.

Then, I got pregnant, we moved near my family, and I became a stay-at-home mom, all within six months. As if that weren't enough, between Dr. appointments, social activities to meet new friends, and our church schedules (I sing, he teaches) every blessed weekend (and a few week nights) we had a knock down, drag out, fight to the death for the title of Biggest Whiner. (I know we were both to blame.) I believed that his inability to remember what I'd told him about our appointments showed a lack of love and respect for me, and he felt that I was springing things on him and felt put upon. (Pretty sad for two people in the happiest time of their lives, making a new life together and loving our little baby boy, but we were headed straight for marriage counseling or the big D.)

I ordered your calendar. I transferred all our appointments to it. I hung my husband's motivational exercise log next to it... and the whole thing snowballed to a neat, tidy little area where we keep incoming and outgoing mail, pens, tape, our SOP Binder (control journal to you), and all the little gadgets that get us through the day- cell phone, GPS, etc. We have not had ONE fight since. We spend that time loving each other and our precious son. Having a calendar that is easy and fun to use set off that whole chain of events.
